That crept up quickly!

Saturday is the day of my first race and the last week hasn’t really been the final pre season week I’d of wished for. But I also have some great new stuff!

If you’ve been following our facebook or twitter, you’d know that I have just bought some Planet X wheels and some brakes from them too. I was due an upgrade and wheels were always going to be the first major upgrade. They’ve been a massive improvement and a review will follow soon. The brakes were a bit of an impulse, I needed new brake blocks and instead went for new brakes because they were on offer. But I’m very impressed and they came with green swiss stop which is a bonus! Again, a review is to come soon!

Now, on the the more annoying things. Last Tuesday, I woke up with a niggle in my knee when I knelt down. I didn’t think anything of it and it didn’t hurt when cycling, but with no improvement to it the day after, I had to do something. Cue compression/ice treatment and 5 days off of the bike. Not very happy. :( As a result, I went to a local bike shop for a bike fitting and sought after answers. The problem came from cleat position and my natural foot angle. I was forcing my knee to sit in an angle it didn’t like, causing bones to rub together and cartilage to wear away. Thanks to Freewheel in Nottingham for their great service and problem suggestion. I’m now taking one or two more days off and I’ll see how my knee is and whether I will race Saturday.

So, an eventful couple of weeks for me. I’d of preferred not to have the problems but nevertheless, I’m glad I found the damage quickly so I can try and correct it without too much disruption to my season. Also, sorry about the late post, I kept forgetting, a lot. In other news, we’ll wrap up the competition very soon when we get a minute.
