Cycling Jobs
No doubt, the hardest part of getting jobs in the cycling industry is in-fact finding the vacancies in the first place. If you are willing to put in some time and effort and research wisely, you will find that there are hundreds of vacancies, be it in England, or abroad. Bear in mind though, that there are millions of people looking for any job doing anything.
My best advice in getting a job in the industry is not to go to the job centre, but instead look at every cycling firms websites. I will list as many as I can think of below and you should check the links daily for any new vacancies. I’m sorry, but I don’t love you enough to trawl through them all myself and update a list on here daily. If you are not willing to click on a few links every day, maybe working isn’t for you
.
You could go around CV-Bombing. A-lot of my friends have done this for retail jobs, and have got successful. I don’t think it would work on more specialized jobs though. I also know a handful of people who have been head-hunted by networking. As the old saying goes, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” I have heard good reviews about LinkedIn, but I have never used it personally so I cannot comment on the effectiveness of them. For young people, like most of our readers, the easiest way to get yourself known is get well known at your Local Bike Shop and offer to do some volunteer work for a week or so to prove your skills. If you’re lucky you might get a part time or full time job.
The cycling industry is so diverse, that there is bound to be a job that you are willing to do. From being a mechanic, to being a masseur. It’s also obvious that the average pay will change depending upon which area you are going to be working in.
If you are an employer, and will like to put vacancies on here, just comment below. Thanks.
